Halls, the respected estate agents, chartered surveyors, auctioneers and valuers has promoted one of its shareholders to join the board of directors.
James Evans, who manages the company's Welshpool office and sells livestock at Shrewsbury and Bishops Castle markets, joins chairman Peter Willcock, David Giles, Allen Gittins and Jeremy Lamond on the five-man board.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to join the board at Halls, having worked for the company for 15 years,” said Mr Evans, who lives at Leighton, Welshpool. “Hopefully I can continue to make a positive contribution to the successful running of the company.
“I think Halls is in a strong position with opening of our new head office at Battlefield, Shrewsbury, which has raised the company’s profile, the addition of a commercial department and the expanded fine art department, which recently conducted the £1m estate auction of the Felix Dennis Collection.
“The company continues to sell farms and large blocks of land across Shropshire, Worcestershire and Mid Wales and to conduct successful livestock auctions in Shrewsbury and Bishops Castle.
“One of my aims is to increase the company’s presence in the agricultural property market in Mid Wales, building on the successful sales of Red House Farm, Aberhafesp and Cefn Du, Cyfronydd, near Welshpool.”
Mr Willcock said the promotion of Mr Evans would further strengthen the board.
“James is involved in all aspects of agriculture as well as running the company’s Welshpool office and is well known in the livestock auctioneering world,” he added. “It’s important for the future of the company that we have young talent coming through to continue to drive the business forward.
“We have no non-executive directors as all the shareholders are fully engaged in the business. We prefer to promote from within and James’ elevation to the board is a clear signal that if you work hard and get on well, you will ultimately move forward in the business.”
