Welshpool Hospital Car Park is “totally abused”

Welshpool’s Mayor has claimed that the free car park at Welshpool Hospital is “totally abused” after the Town Council’s Operations Manager claimed the area was “carnage”.

Cllr Nick Howells commented after Paul McGrath explained to councillors at the latest Services and Property Committee meeting that the area was carnage as more services are returned to the Town Council-owned Ann Holloway Centre located adjacent to the hospital.

“I have got pictures on my phone I can show you, it is absolute carnage there,” said Mr McGrath, who recommended that the centre limits parking and asks users that are able to “drop people off and leave”. He added that there are only nine parking spaces at the centre.

To which Cllr Howells added: “The hospital car park is totally abused. If you looked at the hospital car park, you would think that Welshpool Hospital is totally packed every day because the car park is jammed.”
