24/05/2025 @ 11:42

Newtown is preparing to host its annual 10k run tomorrow (Sunday).

The event is set to attract hundreds of runners and spectators to the streets of the town, with the race starting and ending in the Back Lane car park.

There is free parking in the car park between 8am and 1pm.

Organisers say there will be come minor disruption to traffic in the town during the race.

A statement said: :We aim to minimise disruption for residents on race day. Here is some information to help you get about during the race. You won’t be able to drive on roads that are closed. Many roads will only be closed for a short period.

"If you live on the route and will need to leave by car during the road closure we advise that you move your car before the closure starts at 8:15am. If you are travelling into the town, please follow the diversion routes to avoid the closed roads."

It added: "The race will take place on fully closed roads and pathways for the safety of the runners and the volunteers, therefore we ask that you listen to Marshals and stay off the course until runners have passed. We suggest that spectators watch the start and start and finish and support the runners on the paths alongside the river. The route has good pavement coverage so feel free to cheer on from all areas."
