Organisers of the Welshpool Country Music Festival have revealed a record crowd has raised an incredible sum for the town’s Heulwen Trust.

The event has been running for 35 years and has seen ticket sales for the latest edition top record numbers with visitors attending from across the UK.

As the Powis Castle Showground returns to normality today, organisers are totting up the final figures and believe that £45,000 could well be raised for the charity that provides free boat trips on the Montgomery Canal for less abled passengers.

In a social media post yesterday as the weekend reached its finale, they issued a “huge thank-you” to all who made it a success, particularly the volunteers.

"We will fill you in with plans for next year as we go along," they said.

However, they did accept that some feedback regarding toilets and shower facilities would be taken on board in order to ensure the festival keeps improving by meeting the needs of the attendees.
