Celebrating two years of community impact
Since opening its doors in the Institute, the café has become a place for people to meet, socialise, and enjoy a warm, welcoming environment, thanks to the volunteers who give their time to run the café.
Over the past two years, the café has achieved several significant milestones:
- Provided 120 lunchtime sessions, offering popular toasties and homemade cakes.
- Organised a Christmas Community Lunch for 100 guests, bringing festive cheer to many.
- Provided refreshments at key local events, including the Llanfair Caereinion Carnival and the Christmas Lights Switch-On.
- Held 18 hot meal deal, providing homemade food and opportunity for social connections.
- Refurbished the café space, enhancing the experience for all users of the Institute.
- Showcased local talent, with Christmas crafts and carol singing featuring pupils from Ysgol Bro Caereinion.
“We’re absolutely delighted to reach this milestone - and it’s all thanks to our incredible volunteers, loyal customers and the support of the Trustees of The Institute,” said Ruth Bates, one of the Café Leaders.
“We are always looking out for more volunteers so if you want to get involved and give a few hours a month please do get in touch,” added Ruth.
“We look forward to continuing to offer a warm, welcoming space where people can come together, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.”
The café re-opens following a break over the Summer holiday on Friday, September 12, and with new opening times from 11am until 2pm every Friday.
The hot meal deal will be provided on the last Friday of each month from October until April 2026 as follows: October 31; November 28; December 19 (Christmas lunch); January 30; February 27, March 27, and April 24.
