Welshpool to mark VJ Day tomorrow (Friday)

Welshpool Town Council will be hosting a service tomorrow (Friday) in the town’s Memorial Gardens at 12 noon to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of the Second World War.

The event will consist of a two-minute silence with the last post and reveille followed by some words from the Mayor and representatives of the Royal British Legion. The Mayor will then lay a wreath on behalf of the town.

A national two-minute silence is also taking place across the UK and members of the public are encouraged to participate.
