Llanfair Caereinion has joined Welshpool and Guilsfield in appealing to dog walkers to pick up their pet’s poo from playing fields, or to walk them elsewhere.
Welshpool Rugby Club made their appeal last month after returning to training and finding the mess caused by rogue dog walkers on Maes-y-Dre, and in Guilsfield, where dogs are actually banned from its playing fields completely, the mess is believed to have stopped the school children from playing on the fields this week.
The village clubs have all issued pleas following an increase in dog poo problems, after some even appeared on the tennis courts.
And, last night, Llanfair Caereinion Town Council said they had received “several reports of dog fouling on Mount Field”.
“It’s becoming a serious concern for everyone who uses the space—especially children and sports teams,” said a spokesperson.
“It’s your responsibility to clean up after your dog. Dog waste is not only unpleasant, it’s a health hazard. Bins are provided - please use them. If you see someone failing to clean up, report it to the local council.”
