Snow and ice disruption set to continue

04/01/2026 @ 02:59

The Welshpool area has been hit by a double whammy of weather warnings on Monday for snow and ice.

After three days of freezing temperatures, the Met Office have told us to expect more with two weather warnings colliding over the Welshpool area.

The first continues from today’s warning through until 11am on Tuesday with scattered sleet and snow showers and icy patches that could cause some travel disruption throughout Monday and overnight into Tuesday morning.

The second includes us in a more widespread yellow warning for snow and ice until noon tomorrow.

The forecasters have been spot-on so far this year, so here’s what we can expect:

  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
