Welshpool High School has issued an early warning for parents to “make provisional arrangements for childcare for tomorrow” with Storm Goretti expected to cause safety issues overnight.
An amber warning for snow is in place from 8pm tonight through to 9am tomorrow, with higher areas anticipating up to 20cms of snow.
There is, of course, a chance that low-lying areas may only be impacted by rain and sleet, but the high school is warning parents and carers to plan ahead, just in case.
“As you are aware there is an Amber weather warning in place and heavy snow is possible this evening and tomorrow,” Mr Jon Arnold, Headteacher, stated in a letter this morning.
“We will make any decisions around school closure with the safety of students and staff in mind, and we will endeavour to do this as early as possible.
“It is advisable for parents and carers to start to make provisional arrangements for childcare for tomorrow, should we be unable to open. Information regarding whether the school will be closed will be sent via InTouch and will also be published on the home page of the school website.
“In the event of school closure, students will find work set on Google Classroom.”
