Berriew’s first Colour Run on Bank Holiday Sunday

18/08/2026 @ 11:32

The countdown is on, with families across the local area invited to come together for a colourful Bank Holiday Sunday packed with fun, laughter and fundraising.

Taking place on August 30, the event will feature a 5K Colour Run, where participants can run, jog or walk their way around the course while getting covered in colour along the way. For younger participants, there will also be a children’s fun colour obstacle course, giving little ones the chance to get involved, tackle colourful obstacles and enjoy their own messy adventure.

Online registration is now open, and participants are encouraged to secure their place in advance through https://www.zeffy.com/en-GB/ticketing/colour-run-fundraiser. Registration on the day will also be available for those who decide to join the fun at the last minute.

The event is raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, two children’s hospitals that are particularly close to the heart of the Berriew Preschool community, as well as supporting Berriew Preschool. All money raised will be split equally between the three causes.

It’s an event with a serious purpose, but the emphasis is firmly on having fun, getting involved and bringing the community together. Organisers hope that the success of the first event will see Berriew’s Colour Run become an annual fixture, giving families the opportunity to come together year after year to support these important causes.

The organisers would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the sponsors who have supported Berriew’s first Colour Run so far. The event has received fantastic support from local businesses, including Roger Parry, G Evans Plumbing & Heating Services, ASW Accountancy, Brookfield Fitness & Physiotherapy, Plas Cath Luxury Cattery, Kings Nurseries, Allan Hughes – Septic Tank Emptier, Keith Breese Building Maintenance, Argae Hall Caravan Park, Whittingham & Riddell Accountants, Ross Morgan Caravan Services, T Alun Jones, Severn Valley Stays, Skincare by Clare, Pentre Getaways, Nigel Pugh Motors and Sign & Print.

Lynsey Evans, one of the organisers, said: “We are really excited to be bringing Berriew’s first Colour Run to the village and hope the whole community will get behind it. We wanted to create something fun for the whole family while raising money for three causes that mean so much to us. Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey do incredible work supporting children and their families, and we’re delighted to be raising money for them alongside supporting Berriew Preschool.

“A huge thank you to all our sponsors, Berriew Show and everyone who has supported us so far. We’d love for this first Colour Run to be the beginning of something special and hopefully become an annual event for the community.”

There will be plenty happening on the day alongside the races. Food will be available from The Potato Box, Mandy Watkins and Greenhouse Café, as well as a licensed bar. Families are welcome to bring picnic blankets and their own picnic if they wish, although there will be plenty of food available to purchase on site.

There will also be a raffle with lots of fabulous prizes, with anyone attending able to enter on the day. The organisers are still accepting donations of raffle prizes from local businesses and individuals who would like to support the event.

There is also still time to donate as an individual or business through the event’s fundraising page, with all money raised being split equally between Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Berriew Preschool.

Participants are asked to arrive from 10.30am for registration and to collect their colour-run glasses. The warm-up will take place at 11.15am, with the gates closing at 11.25am. The children’s colour obstacle race will start at 11.30am, with the adults’ 5K Colour Run following shortly after the children’s race has finished.

The 5K Colour Run costs £10, while the children’s colour obstacle course costs £5 and spectators are free.
