Twelve students at Ysgol Llanfyllin have secured an incredible haul of 10 or more A* or A results in today’s GCSE and vocational results release.

The school said that this year’s cohort has “impressed us not only through their academic and vocational achievements, but also through the determination and resilience they have shown throughout their studies”.

The dozen students who excelled are:

  • Lawrie Armstrong
  • Evelyn Jones
  • Sophie Campbell
  • Elen Davies
  • Isabel Millar
  • Eva Bartlam
  • Hannah Davies
  • Evan Evans
  • Ella Groom
  • Celyn Lewis
  • Greta Macdonald
  • Seren Williams

The school said that many will now continue their education at Canolfan Chweched, Ysgol Llanfyllin’s Sixth Form Centre, stating that their decision to remain at the school demonstrates the importance of maintaining strong, local sixth-form provision in Powys, enabling young people to access a broad curriculum and pursue their ambitions while continuing their education within their own community through their Trisgol partnership.

Dewi Owen, Headteacher of Ysgol Llanfyllin, said: “We are immensely proud of every student receiving GCSE and vocational results today. Their achievements are a testament to their ability, determination and hard work, as well as to the strong partnership between our students, families, staff and governors.

“Behind every set of results is an individual story of progress, perseverance and personal achievement. Our young people now have exciting opportunities ahead of them, and the whole Ysgol Llanfyllin Teulu looks forward to seeing what they accomplish next.”

The school added in a statement: “These achievements reflect the strength and breadth of the curriculum offered at Ysgol Llanfyllin and the collective contribution of our entire school community. We extend our sincere thanks to our families, teaching and support staff, governors and partner organisations for everything they have done to support our learners.”
