Our free news pledge for 2024

01/01/2024 @ 03:06

As we set sail on a new year, MyTown Media Ltd is making a 2024 pledge to you, our dedicated readers and viewers, that it will remain free to access your local news for the whole year.

As local newspaper prices soar and news sites create paywalls up and down the country, we’ll buck the trend by promising not to introduce any charges for both MyWelshpool and MyNewtown.

We are also resisting the trend to introduce those annoying formats used by the industry to hide the news amidst the adverts by keeping your sites plain and simple.

It promises to be a massive year for Welshpool. Obviously, the General Election will take centre stage, whenever it will be, but we will cover the ongoing big stories like the multi-million-pound Town Hall transformation, the new skatepark, the Air Ambulance base future, the Tourist Information Centre work and not to mention the Pinewood and hopefully other pubs returning.

And you will be able to access all of this, and much more, without it costing you a penny.

“All of this is possible because of the amazing support we receive from local businesses who advertise with us and ensure the ongoing success story of our sites which have become a vital part of local life over the past 14 years,” said David Williams, MyTown Co-Founder.

“As we enter the New Year, I would like to say a big thank-you to all of those companies that have invested their hard-earned marketing budgets in us and we look forward to working with more in 2024.”

MyTown Media Ltd not only saves our readers money, it is also environmentally friendly with no newsprint to churn out or delivery vans to worry about blighting our fresh country air.

We are ardent supporters too of the Powys pound, our county council’s pledge to use locally-based companies to carry out their work, and we hope to work closely with our friends at County Hall in 2024 to identify ways of slashing their massive public notice-spend by working together.

We are proud to serve the areas we call home, and look forward to seeing what 2024 brings.

A Happy New Year from all of our team.
