Ryan’s bronze for Wales

Local athlete Ryan Edwards has continued his tremendous form this summer by winning bronze at the Manchester International on Wednesday.

The Maldwyn Harrier long jumper, representing Wales at U20 level after becoming Welsh champion last month, leapt a massive 6.90m to take the third step on the podium.

This year’s Manchester International was an opportunity for both senior and U20 athletes to represent Wales in a high-level competition.

The Wales team included a mixture of experienced and up-and-coming athletes, with many of the seniors looking to strengthen their case for Commonwealth Games nomination.

Edwards has a growing reputation in athletics, sealing his Welsh title in Newport last month with a personal best jump of 6.92m.
