Students ‘net’ a clean sweep of titles

Welshpool High School is celebrating a hat-trick of titles after hosting the North Powys u12/u13/u14 Netball tournament.

Following some incredible performances, the host school did not lose a single game all day and clinched the year 7, year 8 and year 9 crowns.

“It was a fantastic day and great to see so many schools and pupils participating and having fun,” said a spokesperson for the school.

“We had year 10 and sixth form students helping to run the tournament and they were amazing. The day could not have run without them.”

Not to be outdone, the u16 team were also successful in winning the North Powys tournament, and went on to face Christ College in the Powys final, winning 26-13.

The victory qualified them through to the Welsh finals in Cardiff where they won two of their games and finished a respectable sixth overall.
