Adele Nicoll has hit the form of her life by winning her first Senior British Shot Put title, just a month before competing for Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The 25-year-old from Welshpool threw a whopping 17.59metres at the Müller UK Athletics Championships in Manchester this morning (Sunday), a new personal best, to take gold by a winning margin of 10cm from former champion, Sophie McKinna, in second.
“This is my first ever Senior British Title, so a huge confidence boost with the Commonwealth Games just over a month away,” she said after winning with her fourth throw of the day.
“All I have to say is ‘thank-you’ for the continued support. The hard work behind the scenes will continue. Thank-you to my sponsors, coach, physios, friends and family.”
Only last week Adele completed a Shot Put and Discus double at the Welsh Championships, but this takes her performances to a whole new level after finishing third at the same event last year.
