Welshpool Golf Club’s Frankie Jones has been selected to represent Wales at the 28th ‘ONEGOLFCLUB’ Phoenix 4-Nations 2022’ being held at the Forest of Arden from August 14-16.

The event is played between England, Scotland, Wales and North America (USA and Canada) and is the world’s first fully inclusive team international, and is based firmly on the Ryder/Solheim Cup, where disabled golf groups from around the world are invited annually, to bring together teams to compete and continue to develop and promote the sport for players of any age, with any type of disability.

To date, The Phoenix Cup is still the only pan-disability match play team golf event in the world.

Frankie, 24, was selected after impressing at the Welsh Disabled Golf Championship and hopes to make an impact to secure selection for next year when the event is held in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles.

He currently plays off a handicap of 8.8 at Welshpool and plays every Wednesday evening in the Summer League and also in club competitions on his weekends off, as he works full time as a car sales person at Arthur’s of Newtown.

Frankie is having to self-fund all expenses related to the competition and if anyone would be like to sponsor, contact him on frankiejj8@gmail.com.
