Guilsfield Cup bid frustrated by FAW probe

30/10/2023 @ 09:14

Guilsfield’s opposition for their semi-final of the Nathaniel MG Cup is still unknown after the Football Association of Wales (FAW) launched an investigation into one of the other clubs still in the draw.

The draw has been delayed after the JD Cymru Leagues confirmed an on-going investigation into a potential breach of FAW rules.

Last Tuesday’s quarter-final match between Cardiff Met and Pontypridd United was postponed due to the investigation. The Cymru Leagues said there would be no further comment at this time.

Guilsfield stormed into the last four with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Prestatyn last Wednesday night, and they joined Swansea City Under-21s and The New Saints in the semi-finals.

The tournament features all of the teams in the top two tiers of Welsh football, including a couple of wild cards, and carries a winning prize of £15,000.
