Horse & Jockey gallop to another whitewash win
The league leaders recorded another 7-0 win, this time over The Red Lion (Llanfair Caereinion), but The Grapes A stayed in touch with a 5-2 win over the Green Dragon B, running into a 5-1 lead before the in-form Dan Hoseine and Gareth Richards took the last game.
The Grapes B move up to third with a fine 6-1 win at the Punchbowl in a rearranged game played on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Dragon A beat the Kings Head Guilsfield 5-2 to move into fourth, with inform Steve Price (Green Dragon A) taking out a 114 leg, a 15-dart 501 and hitting a 180. Gareth Steadman (Kings Head) also threw a 180.
The Oak Guilsfield go seventh after a fine 5-2 win over the Green Dragon C with what could be a first, as all three members of the Walsh family won in the same match. Mike, Dai and Iwan Walsh won their respective singles matches and Mike and Dai won their doubles.
The Westwood have also moved onto 16 points with a 6-1 win over the Castle (Castle Caereinion) with Steve Allsbrook and John Coulson taking the first double matches for the Castle point.
Next week sees the Grapes B v the Grapes A in what should be a good game as it is second and third in the league with the top team, The Horse and Jockey, not playing.
Mid-table clash sees Green Dragon B play The Westwood and there’s a bottom-of-the-table match between Green Dragon C v the Red Lion Llanfair. Other games are: Castle v Kings Head, Green Dragon A v The Oak.
There will be a committee meeting on Tuesday, November 14 at 7pm in the Westwood with all welcome to attend to make the Canalside Carpets-sponsored League cup draws and other business.
When the draw has been completed, the sheets will be sent out to all of the teams and posted on Facebook.
