Ex Guils Boss Takes Welshpool Reins

Created on 20/07/2010 @ 17:10

Former Guilsfield manager Graham Evans has been appointed manager of Technogroup Welshpool.

Evans will be remembered for taking the village side on its best ever Welsh Cup run in 2007 before he was replaced by Mike Barton.

He has taken over at Maes-y-dre following the departure of Huw Griffiths to Cefn Druids this summer but will have to rebuild a squad decimated by departures.

Evans faces a major task turning round the ailing Welshpool club which was relegated from the Welsh Premier League at the end of last season with the majority of the squad having left to join Griffiths with the Wrexham club.

Pool's fall from grace was instigated when their ground was deemed unfit for the Welsh Premier League due to the stringent licensing regulations.
