COBRA host a much-improved Wrexham in Meifod looking for crucial points in Division One North, writes Gary Williams.
With the recent resignation of their head coach and losses in their last two games, the hosts will be aware that they have to start getting some points in the table to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle.
Wrexham, sitting in fifth, will be looking to complete the double against COBRA, having beat them 22-15 earlier in the season. This could be a game where home advantage may be the deciding factor.
Welshpool’s game at Pwllheli has been postponed due to the hosts playing a Division One Cup quarter-final at Blaina.
In Division Two North, it’s the Clash of the Titans as undefeated league leaders, Mold, entertain second placed Newtown.
Should Mold get the winning points on Saturday, they have just four games left to play and it’s very unlikely that anybody will stop them being crowned Champions and promoted to the top division.
For Newtown, a defeat would be disappointing but they would still remain clear favourites to secure the coveted second place and a spot in Division One. Newtown’s only defeat this season was against Mold at The Rec, losing 14-22.
Although at home, Llanidloes, struggling for players at present, won’t relish the visit of third placed Rhyl, a side who will be desperate to keep the pressure on Newtown in second place.
It’s been a torrid season so far Llani, without a win and having points deducted (as did Welshpool in Division One) for failing to fulfil a fixture. Times are tough and we wish Llani all the best.
Machynlleth entertain Abergele, also in Division Two. Mach, in fifth place, are a strong outfit at home and lowly Abergele will do well to get anything from their day in Mid Wales.
In Division Three North East, unbeaten COBRA Athletic, in second place and three points behind the leaders Ruthin Athletic with two games in hand, take on visitors Shotton Steel. The Steelmen have won half of their six league games but lie in third from bottom. The Meifod men will expect to continue their promotion aspirations with a good points tally in this one.
