New doubles champions crowned!

Welshpool and District Darts League has new doubles champions, after Dan Hosiene and Cameron Williams were crowned champions on Friday evening, writes Steve Lloyd.

The pair overcame a strong field of 44 entries, and it was held at the Angel for the first time with Huw and his team doing the league proud.

Dan and Cameron (Compass A) beat Jon Gamble and Gareth Steadman (Kings Head A) in a close final. The Losing semi-finalists were Carl Dockerty and Jamie Cater (Westwood B) and Kacey Jones and Dave Rix (Kings Head A).

Now we are just over halfway through the season here is the latest round-up of the league standings.

Division 1

Compass A top the league with 56 points after the re-arranged game against the Westwood A went the way of the Compass 6-1.

The Kings Head A are second with 53 points but have a game in hand over the Compass. The Pheasant are third with 47 points, level with the Westwood B. The Owl & Pussycat are fifth with 37 and with the Westwood A sit on 33 points.

Green Dragon A are on 31 points and the Oak have 28. Both the Red Lion A and the Punchbowl have 24 points however the Red Lion A have a game in hand.

Division 2

The Angel A top the league with 53 points, with the Black Lion 2nd on 51 points. The Powis Arms A are in third place on 49 with a game in hand on the top two.

Castle A are on 48 with the Kings Head B on 38. The Grapes B are on 31 points and the Green Dragon C, The Grapes A and the Red Lion Misfits are all on 29 points with the Green Dragon C having a game in hand. the Lion Caerhoweltrail on 21 points.

Division 3

The Angel B are top with 48 points with the Breidden on 47 points and the Horseshoe on 45. Next come the Compass Bon 42 and then the Grapes D on 39 closely followed by rivals Grapes C on 37 points.

Powis Arms B are on 34 points and Castle B are on 32. Owl & Pussycat B have 31 points and bringing up the rear is the Talbot with 30.
