Welshpool elite athlete Adele Nicoll has shown she is in good form ahead of next month’s Commonwealth Games by retaining her shot put title at the Welsh Athletics Championships.
The 29-year-old announced this month that she is putting her bobsleigh career on hold to focus on trying to reach the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games in shot put in a bid to become a dual Olympian, having competed in Milano Cortino in February.
And she looked in good nick on Sunday when she threw a decent 16.96m at Leckwith, Cardiff.
“While the distance wasn’t what I wanted, we did see the consistent technique,” said Nicoll, who withdrew from the British Championships last weekend saying that her “body told me I had to take the weekend off”.
“But I am coming back, trying to find my feet again. Every competition is a chance to feel that timing and the rhythm and get my hand back in again.
“My goal is to be ready for the Commonwealth Games and throw far in Glasgow.”
