Guilsfield & Llandrinio charged to the top of Shropshire Division Three following a convincing victory over fellow promotion chasers Albighton.

Openers Andy Flann (31) and Twinkle Jose (41) got the villagers off to a strong start at the LHG Oval, but it was all-rounder Nasir Uddin who stole the show with a magical 100 runs, his first century for the club, as they motored to 268.

Sajeev Mable then ripped through the visitors with 5-19 to reduce them to 194.

They moved into top spot after Condover and Welshpool lost, the latter being bowled out for 171 at Church Aston. Dan Chodecki top scored with 51 but it wasn’t enough as Aston chalked up a shock five-wicket win.

Newtown have continued to struggle in the Premier League after being dismissed for just 58 chasing Whitchurch’s 232-7. The defeat leaves Newtown at the bottom of the league.

Montgomery’s woes continued too, with their seven-wicket defeat at home to Worfield II leaving them bottom of Division One. Rob Bennet top scored with 39 as they limped to 138 all out, which was no problem for the visitors.

Newtown II and Llanidloes clash as a battle of the top two in Division Four this Saturday, with both looking good for promotion. Llani were gifted the points last Saturday after Iscoyd & Fenns Bank conceded, but Newtown II defended a modest 155 to remain top.

Ian Hancocks (36) top scored as Newtown struggled for momentum, but Mike Bellamore and Finley Bellamore took three wickets each in reply to dismiss Priorslee for just 132.

Welshpool II were beaten in a cliff-hanger at Cae Glas in Division Five after almost defending 153-9. But with just one wicket remaining, the hosts made it home despite a brilliant 6-26 from Will Gannon.

Rupert Shingler (77) and Rich Lewis (73) lifted the spirits of Guilsfield & Llandrinio II at St George’s III, but they couldn’t secure a much-needed victory in Division Six.

The pair, along with George Edwards (23no), gave them a good start by posting 205-5 but the hosts were also in form with the bat, securing a seven-wicket win in the 26th over.

Montgomery II fell to a three-wicket defat at home to Alberbury II who chased down Monty’s 139 all out in the 27thover. Freddie Roberts had a good day taking 3-48 and also making 37 runs.

On Sunday, Newtown II ran out of overs six runs short of Whitchurch III’s 167-8 in Division Three, while in Division Four, Llanidloes II were bowled out for just 102 by Sentinel IV who cruised to a four-wicket win.
