Amateur league clubs set for Llanfechain curtain raiser

This weekend will see the traditional curtain raiser for the local amateur football season kick off with the Llanfechain Knock-out.

Llangedwyn will take on Welshpool Town Reserves for the opener on Saturday, before Llanrhaeadr Reserves meet Forden United Reserves on Sunday.

Other clubs taking part include Trefonen, Llanfyllin, Dyffryn Banw, Llansantffraid Village Development, Llanfair United Reserves, Llanfechain, Waterloo Rovers Reserves and West Felton.

There could also be an interesting story should results go the right way, with Welshpool’s father-and-son John and Ethan Harris and West Felton’s father-and-son duo of Richie and Tyler Harris included in their respective squads. Brother John and Richie are well known to local football fans having starred for Welshpool Town over the years.
