It was another entertaining night of darts in the Welshpool Premier League sponsored by The Green Dragon Welshpool.

On a night packed with maximums, big checkouts and closely fought contests, Kacey Jones strengthened his grip at the top of the table with two dominant victories.

He was in superb form throughout the evening, whitewashing Dan Morgan 4-0 before repeating the feat against Dave Rix in another 4-0 success. A 180 in the second match underlined an impressive night’s work, extending his advantage at the summit.

There was no shortage of heavy scoring across the venue. Steve Price enjoyed a productive evening, defeating Gary Jones 4-2 in a match where both players landed a 180, before sharing the spoils in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Jamie Kynaston. Price fired in an incredible three 180s, but Kynaston produced the moment of brilliance with a superb 116 checkout to rescue the draw in what was undoubtedly the game of the night.

The highest checkout of the evening belonged to Jack Price, who produced a magnificent 148 finish during his commanding 4-0 win over Alex Howard. However, Price couldn’t maintain that momentum in his second outing, suffering a 4-0 defeat to an inspired Gareth Ashley, who followed up a first-match 4-0 win over Jon Gamble. Ashley was in devastating scoring form, landing three maximums across his two matches, including two in his victory over Price.

There were more standout finishing displays elsewhere. Gary Jones rounded off his evening with an excellent 147 checkout in a convincing 4-1 victory over Dan Hosiene, while Dan Morgan bounced back from his defeat to Kacey Jones with a strong 4-1 win over Howard, hitting two maximums along the way.

Earlier in the evening, Dave Rix opened with a solid 4-2 victory over Gamble, while Oscar Hyland produced a composed performance to defeat Jamie Cater 4-1.

The drawn matches were equally entertaining. Cater and Rob Shingler shared the points in a 3-3 contest, with Cater adding a 180, while Shingler also featured in another draw, this time finishing 3-3 against Ewan who had earlier claimed a 4-2 win over Hosiene, who hit a 180 despite losing.

Overall, the night produced 13 maximums, highlighted by Steve Price’s three, Gareth Ashley’s three, Dan Morgan’s two and further contributions from Kacey Jones, Jamie Cater, Gary Jones, Dan Hosiene. Combined with outstanding checkouts of 148, 147 and 116, it was a night that showcased the league’s undoubted quality.

With another flawless evening, Kacey Jones continues to set the pace at the top, but with the standard of scoring and finishing on display throughout the field, the chasing pack will be eager to close the gap in the weeks ahead.
