Celebrating 15 years with competition

Local business owner Sarah Owen says she has made significant changes to her company, Pyjama Drama, since the introduction of Covid-19 restrictions two months ago.

Celebrating 15 years in business this year, Sarah founded the drama and imaginative play programme in Leighton back in 2005, and now supports 28 franchisees around the UK to run their own Pyjama Drama businesses.

But she isn’t letting the ongoing pandemic stop her from marking the occasion by launching a competition for children.

“On March 23, our franchisees lost all of their income practically overnight which essentially meant we at Head Office did too,” said Sarah, who runs the business with sister, Rachel McKenna, from Welshpool. “Thankfully, we did see it coming to an extent and had already put work in to plan how we could move sessions online.”

Those sessions are now up and running and numbers are steadily growing.

“The feedback we’ve had so far from customers has been amazing,” she added. “We’re so grateful that the public are willing to support these small businesses and most importantly that the children in the sessions are still learning and having fun.”

To celebrate 15 years, the competition invites children to design a new Pyjama Drama ‘character’ that will feature on marketing material and become part of the brand as a whole.

“This competition is a way not only to celebrate 15 years in business, but also to celebrate the creativity and imagination that is blossoming around the UK in our youngsters, even during lockdown,” said Rachel.

The rules to enter are simple – if you’re aged seven or under, draw or paint a picture of a new Pyjama Drama character and submit it via email to sarah@pyjamadrama.com by May 25.

The winning design will be announced live on Pyjama Drama’s Facebook page (@PyjamaDramaFun) at 10am on Monday, June 1.
