A leading Welshpool employer is keeping one eye on the future talent in the town that will continue to drive the company forward.

Morland is a division of Interior Products Group, a leader in the leisure, marine and construction industry, and recently hosted an immersive and educational work experience programme for eight Year 10 students, spanning over two weeks.

It provided students with invaluable insights into various facets of the business, offering a unique opportunity to explore potential career paths and understand the inner workings of a successful company.

The programme was designed to ensure a comprehensive experience. Students were taken on guided tours of Morland’s factories, where they observed the production processes and learned about the company’s diverse range of products.

These tours offered an opportunity to understand the manufacturing and operational aspects of the business, allowing students to witness first-hand the journey from raw materials to finished goods.

In addition to the factory tours, students participated in presentations and activities across different business functions. These sessions were crafted to offer a deep dive into how each department operates and contributes to the company's success. Departments such as marketing, finance, human resources, and research and development provided interactive presentations and engaging activities, highlighting their roles and responsibilities within Morland.

To culminate their experience, the students were tasked with creating and presenting a marketing plan for two business scenarios.

This final project allowed the students to apply the knowledge and skills they had acquired throughout their time at Morland. Every student actively participated and had the opportunity to present their marketing strategies, demonstrating their understanding and creativity.

“Hosting these talented young individuals was a rewarding experience for both the students and our team,” said Rachel Jones, Human Resources Manager at Morland.

“We believe in nurturing the next generation of professionals by providing them with practical experience and insights into the real-world business environment. Our goal is to inspire them and help them make informed decisions about their future careers.”

Students left the programme with a broader understanding of the business landscape and a newfound appreciation for the intricacies involved in running a company.

The exposure to different departments not only helped them identify areas of interest but also equipped them with knowledge and skills that will be beneficial in their academic and professional journeys.

Morland remains committed to fostering educational initiatives and supporting the community by offering such enriching opportunities. The company said it looks forward to continuing its tradition of empowering young minds and contributing to their growth and development.
