Welshpool Town Hall will be lit up in blue on Thursday to show the town’s support for those with the condition, and to raise awareness.

World Parkinson’s Day is marked every year on April 11, and The Montgomeryshire Support Group of Parkinson’s UK have liaised with Welshpool Town Council to light up our iconic town centre building in blue.

The Montgomeryshire Support Group meets on the last Thursday of the month at 2pm in the Cowshacc, (top of Berriew Street Car Park) where support and friendship is offered to everybody living with Parkinson’s, their family and carers.

“We also have an informal Parkinson’s Cafe at the Royal Oak Hotel on the second Thursday in the month at 2pm,” a spokesperson told us.

Last month, former Llanfair Caereinion head teacher Phil Jones raised over £10,000 for the charity by completing seven 10k runs in seven days.

For more information of monthly events, contact Gwyneth Evans on 01939 553713 or Cindy Jones on 01938 5533.
