Leighton Primary School said they held a fantastic Wheelathon fundraising event for their children, families and the local community.
Children took part in three activities on the day, including a sponsored bike/scooter ride, where every ride counted towards raising funds for new maths and IT equipment.
They also participated in a series of Robot Wars-style challenges using Lego Spike kits to create their own buggies and Mid Wales Classic Vehicle Club members were also in attendance with their stunning classic vehicles.
The children had used information about the cars to bring their learning to life and were thrilled to have the opportunity to learn more about each lovingly restored car.
Some children also benefited from the wonderful Montgomery free bike recycling scheme, run by the Montgomery Energy Group, a community-centred scheme which donated bikes, enabling children to leave the event with a free bike.
“The event was a huge success full of laughter, fun and fabulous learning, showing that even the smallest wheels can make a big impact, with the school raising over £600,” said a spokesperson.
