An initiative that provides a safe space for teenage girls to play football has been launched by Welshpool Town Football Club.
BE. FC is a Football Association of Wales (FAW) scheme that provides a ‘fun, sociable environment for girls aged 12-16 to enjoy football without any pressure’.
The FAW said that BE. FC is designed to allow girls of any ability level to pick up a football and have fun with friends in a safe environment.
“Not only does BE. FC provide opportunity for teenage girls to enjoy football, it also promotes a healthy lifestyle and supports girls to develop in more ways than just the football environment,” a club spokesperson said.
“BE. FC has been tailored to restore the love of football within girls aged 12-16, and to allow girls across Wales the opportunity to continue to play football in a less pressured environment.”
This week's Wednesday session will be held at Maesydre from 6pm-7pm and cost just £3 per session. It will then be held on future Wednesdays at the new Wayne Evans Playing Fields. Spaces can be booked online through https://play.faw.cymru and type Welshpool into the search bar.
