Welsh Liberal Democrat Senedd candidate Cllr. Glyn Preston has launched a health survey in his bid to secure better services for residents.
Cllr Preston said he is demanding urgent healthcare investment from the government and has asked Gwynedd & Maldwyn residents to share their healthcare experiences to support his case.
“The Welsh NHS is on its knees,” said Cllr Preston. “We see it every day in long waiting times, GP surgeries closing their doors, and overworked staff.
“I want the Welsh Government to hear your stories, to understand how cancer waiting times are robbing you of time with loved ones, how ambulance waiting times are costing precious lives in our communities and how parents are struggling to get an urgent dentist appointment for your children.
“The Welsh NHS deserves more than just warm words and empty promises, and it is worth fighting for. Every personal experience adds extra pressure on the Welsh Government to fund better services and deliver better outcomes for everyone in Wales, whether you’re 16 or 88.”
One resident who has taken the survey said: “I should see my neurologist yearly for a check-up. I was due to see him in November 2024, but it will be another year before I get to see him, it’s ridiculous.”
Cllr Preston has campaigned against Powys Teaching Health Board requiring patients being treated in English hospitals to wait longer for their treatment than English patients, and has called out the long-standing failures of Betsi Cadwalladr Health Board in North Wales. He has also called for the downgrading of Llanidloes Hospital to be stopped and for more facilities in local hospitals to give residents better access to services and to cut the need for lengthy round trips to receive essential care.
The health survey takes four minutes to complete and can be found here.
