A singer-songwriter and guitarist, who has toured the UK in top shows and shared stages with legendary artists, will be headlining a night of live music in Llanfair Caereinion on March 7.

‘An Audience with Tom Wright’ will be held at the town’s Institute, organised by local resident Stewart Charman and celebrating 10 years of Stewart staging events under his Charman Promotions banner.

Now aged 31, Cambridgeshire-born Tom has been playing guitar since the age of seven and dedicated himself to music full-time after leaving school. He has built a successful career touring the UK theatre circuit featuring in shows such as Elio Pace’s The Billy Joel Songbook and Walk Right Back: A Tribute to the Everly Brothers.

He has performed alongside a host of top artists including Albert Lee, Huey Lewis, Tom Chaplin, Ronan Keating, Brian McFadden, Mike Rutherford of super-group Genesis, chart-topping group The Feeling and even the actor Bill Murray.

He has also written many of his own songs, a self-titled debut album in 2015 being followed by a series of singles released in 2019 and 2020 and most recently, Ruins, a 5-song EP released in 2023 that highlights his unique blend of country, blues and rock influences.

Tom’s music has been featured on platforms such as the BBC Introducing series, and he has performed at major events including the Country 2 Country Festival at the O2 Arena in London, The Secret Garden Party Festival and The British Country Music Festival.

The evening’s entertainment will also feature Ellie Galvin and Aaron W. Evans. Ellie is a singer-songwriter from the West Midlands who has been writing music for herself and others for over 10 years and has been lucky enough to play in some amazing venues, including The Cavern in Liverpool, renowned as the birthplace of The Beatles, and The Ruby Sessions in Dublin, along with several festivals around the UK.

Aaron is a 26-year-old singer-songwriter who combines rock music influences into a country-pop style. He has been writing, producing and releasing music for almost 10 years, releasing two full-length EPs and a number of singles. His latest EP New To Me was lauded as “an independent masterpiece” by BBC Radio Shropshire and lead to Aaron receiving nominations for Best Solo Artist in the Shropshire Music Awards in both 2024 and 2025.

Tom performed at the first public event organised by Stewart when he inaugurated a Showcase Stage at the Welshpool Country & Western Weekend in 2016, and Stewart is delighted that he will be headlining the 10th anniversary show.

“Tom is hugely talented as audiences across the UK have discovered,” Stewart said: “Now there is a chance to enjoy his songs, and those of Ellie and Aaron, in the intimate local surroundings of The Llanfair Institute – it should be a great night.”

Doors open for the event at 7pm on Saturday, March 7, and a licensed bar will be available.

Tickets are priced at £15 and can be ordered through www.wegottickets.com/event/681035

It is the latest in a growing list of top class talent that has performed in Llanfair over the past year, following on from the lead singers of Dodgy and Starsailor that had done solo shows under a different promoter.
