Ending it where it all began – in Welshpool!

An internationally renowned musician is calling time on his glittering 60-year career with a farewell performance in Welshpool on January 3, 2026.

Michael Jones was born in Welshpool back in 1952, and started his first band as a 14-year-old in the town before holidaying to France, where his mother was from, five years later and staying there to pursue a career in music.

He became a critically acclaimed performer in France, releasing numerous albums both as a solo artist and with a number of different bands, and touring extensively to packed venues for decades.

In 2008, he provided support to British rockers Status Quo during their tour of France.

But it will all come to an end with a homecoming gig at the Town Hall with tickets (£22) now on sale and raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust.

It will be a seated event, doors will open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
