Police investigating Llandrinio Bridge hit-and-run

28/10/2025 @ 12:26

A police investigation has been launched following last night’s incident that has resulted in Llandrinio Bridge being closed.

Major damage was caused to the bridge, which straddles the River Severn, resulting in a large section of the wall collapsing.

Officers believe the bridge may have been struck by a vehicle and are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch. Photos posted on social media this morning show the extent of the damage (pictured).

“We are appealing for information about damage to Llandrinio Bridge which is believed to have happened sometime on the afternoon or evening of Monday, October 27.

“A large section of the wall has collapsed into the river and has resulted in the bridge being closed in both directions while it is repaired and made safe again. The bridge is expected to remain closed for some time.”

Local county councillor, Cllr Lucy Roberts, said she was heading to County Hall in Llandrindod Wells to demand urgent action, but also warned residents that she expects a long closure.
