‘Living through lockdown’ winner

23/02/2021 @ 12:15

Montgomery residents were invited to enter a writing competition to share their thoughts on living through the lockdown.

The competition was split into two, with contributions invited from both adults and young people, who were asked to write about their lockdown experience, as prose or poetry.

The winner of the junior entry was Ciaran Taylor, from Montgomery, who received a book token from Eaves and Lord bookshop, together with a cash prize from Montgomery's postmistress, Denice Jaunzens, who organised the competition.

Ciaran is well-known to Montgomery residents as he regularly volunteers at public events; for this work, he was awarded the title of Honorary Freeman of Montgomery.

A former student at Bishop’s Castle Community College, Ciaran, 16, is now studying Sports and Public Services at Newtown College, and he hopes to continue a career in public service by joining the Fire Service.

All the stories will be made available to read on the Montgomery Wales website, and the winners of the adult category will be announced soon.
