As diesel hits £2, one Welshpool forecourt calls it a day

Fuel has smashed through the £2 per litre mark, and one forecourt has decided to call it a day after years of service.

The Trump/Israel war on Iran has choked supply from the Middle East, pushing the prices up with some analysts fearing it could keep sky rocketing towards £3 per litre for diesel.

It, of course, impacts just about everything else as a knock-on and, locally, Border Garage announced prior to the weekend that it was closing its fuel shop.

The business did not say why, but confirmed it would still be operating its other services from the site including workshop and vehicle rental.

In its announcement, the company stated: “Yesterday our fuel shop closed its doors.

“This is just a small part of the business - our workshop services and vehicle rentals are as busy as ever and continue to grow.

“In addition to this, we hope to share some exciting news regarding the redevelopment of the fuel station in the coming months.”
