Whilst we still await an opening date for the new McDonald’s restaurant being constructed on the outskirts of Welshpool, the fast food giant has launched its recruitment campaign.
Th company is advertising for full time team members for its Buttington Cross facility and said that all training will be conducted at their restaurants in Shrewsbury or Newtown.
“It will be necessary to be able to travel to these restaurants in order to conduct your initial training,” said the company. “If you are unable to travel, please let us know and we will put your application on hold until the restaurant in Welshpool is open.”
Welshpool’s branch is a franchise operated by a local business person trading under the McDonald's name. Currently over 80% of its restaurants in the UK are franchised but, the firm says, from a customer point of view "there's no difference".
Approval for the restaurant came last year, and while it has been warmly received by many, there have been concerns raised by the feared increase in litter as well as the health impact on the town with the new primary school just a stone’s throw away.
