Welshpool Town Council is making a big push for the area to support its Queen’s Jubilee Carnival which will take place on Sunday, June 5.

The council is encouraging schools, community groups, clubs and businesses to get involved with the event which gets underway with a traditional parade through the town from noon.

The carnival itself will take place at Maes-y-dre which will be a hive of family activities and stalls.

“With free entry for all, we are hiring acts/performers/dance/singing groups etc, to entertain until around 5pm, when we then plan to have live music acts on our stage until 8pm,” said a town council spokesperson.

Posters are going up around the town to publicise the event while letters have been sent to local schools to encourage participation.
