“Get involved”, town urged to back Jubilee Carnival

13/05/2022 @ 05:58

Welshpool Town Council is calling on the area to get behind the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Carnival, which will be the centrepiece of the town’s celebrations for the big holiday weekend next month.

On Sunday, June 5, a procession, starting at 12 noon, will leave from Berriew Street Car Park, and pass through Broad Street, High Street, Jehu Road, Brook Street and down to Maes-y-dre Recreation Ground and there is a call for community groups, clubs, schools, businesses and even individuals to get involved.

The afternoon will see a variety of charity, community and food stalls and entertainment in the arena for the whole family from 1pm. There will be live music from 5pm-8pm.

“We would like to invite you to get involved throughout the day!” a spokesperson told us. “Why not take part in the parade by creating your own themed float or walk in the parade – Jubilee themed would be great? You could raise money for your organisation by having a stall at the recreation ground? Or if you are a dance group, singing group, gymnastics, choir etc come and take part in the arena from 1.15pm-5pm.”

The spokesperson added that stalls are booking up quickly and to email kimberly@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk or call 01938 553142 for more information.
