Andrew Davies has pulled off one of the performances of his incredible career after finishing third at this weekend’s IAU 50km European Championships in Sotillo de Adrada, Spain.

Andrew clocked a remarkable time of two hours 53.09 seconds to clinch the bronze medal, and lead home the Team GB men who also took the team title.

His time meant his average pace was 17.33km/p/h and 3.28min/km to prove that he is in the form of his life as one of Europe’s best endurance runners.

He finished behind a pair of Spaniards, with Houssame Azizi winning the race in 2:49.20, while compatriot Alberto Pardo came second in 2:52.39.

The Newtown campus college lecturer said afterwards: “Mega happy with a bronze. Big thank-you to @britishathletics for the opportunity after a quick turnaround from the European Championships in Munich. What a superb group of people to run with and had a cracking few days with this lot (& team management)!

“First team in the men’s and women’s races too! Big shout outs to everyone who has got me here.”

The championships saw 93 elite athletes from 20 European Federations take part.
