Water bills set to arrive – do you need help?

03/03/2023 @ 10:23

The annual water bills are being prepared, and Hafren Dyfrdwy is reminding customers of support available to help with paying bills.

We have asked the company for an indication of how much they will be rising, but they have not responded to date, and so householders are being advised to prepare.

Hafren Dyfrdwy, that looks after around 100,000 household customers across Wrexham and Powys has increased the amount of support it has available, so it can help even more people in the communities that may be struggling through the current cost-of-living crisis.

Lou Moir, Customer Experience Lead at Hafren Dyfrdwy said: “While the average water bill for Hafren Dyfrdwy is the lowest in the UK, we know that our customers are facing many cost of living challenges. So, it’s really important to us that everyone is aware of the help and support we have available.

“We know our customers could benefit from various types of support, which is why we have a number ways we can help and why we invested more into our schemes to be able to help even more people.

“We also know that our customers need different types of support, and there isn’t a one size fits all approach, which is why we have differing types of help available. This ranges from schemes to save money off bills, to setting up payment plans or even having a meter fitted to have better control of bills and usage.”

Hafren Dyfrdwy has supported over 7,000 customers since April last year, and has invested additional funds so it can help even more customers with paying their bill.

By 2025, it’s looking to have grown this number to be supporting 9000 of its customers each year with paying their water bill.

“We also have some great community connections, such as Warm Wales and Citizens Advice, so our customer teams could not only help you save money off you bill, but be able to help provide more information and support outside of Hafren Dyfrdwy as well.

“Not only that, we know that from time to time our customers could benefit from a little extra support as their circumstances may change, so our priority services register could be a great help to them,” adds Lou. “We’d really encourage anyone who is struggling, or concerned about their bill, or would just like to have a chat to see how we can help and what’s available, to give our team a call.”

Support schemes for Hafren Dyfrdwy customers include:

-       Bill cap scheme – WaterSure – helping families with low income, a medical condition or young family

-       Here2help scheme – offering a reduction of their water bill with low household income

-       Water Direct – support to pay bills through benefits
