Motorists in the area are waking up to more misery this morning after it was confirmed that Llandrinio Bridge is out of action following a collision last night.
This picture on Facebook, posted by Julie Lee this morning, shows the extent of the damage, and it’s not clear what has happened as we await official police confirmation.
But what we do know is that the bridge is closed “until further notice”, according to a post from Dyfed-Powys Police, with motorists urged to “find an alternative route for your journey”.
The local county councillor, Cllr Lucy Roberts, asked this morning on social media “does anyone know what happened?” adding that she is heading to County Hall in Llandrindod Wells this morning to “discuss remedial action with officers but unfortunately its likely to take time”.
This latest road closure joins the near seven-week closure of the Guilsfield-Welshpool Road and the night time closure of the Buttington-Welshpool Road currently in place. From early next month, the Arddleen-Welshpool Road will also face night time closure for more than two weeks.
A lane on Brook Street in Welshpool is due to be closed from November 3-7 while Llanfair Caereinion is also enduring road closures for Scottish Power work across the town centre for the next six weeks.
