17/10/2014 @ 09:01

Enthusiasts from all over England and Wales will be making their way to The Mid Wales Model Railway Show in Welshpoool Town Hall on Saturday, October 25.

The event takes place between 10.30am and 4.30pm and there will be approximately 18 layouts and exhibits as well as trade stands selling new and second hand items for the railway modeller, books, and demonstrations.

There will be a number of narrow gauge and standard gauge exhibits in a variety of scales. Notable this year will be a large Playmobil Christmas layout which will please the young and not so young.

Newtown Model Engineers will be showing some of their impressive large scale locomotives and to celebrate the 100thanniversary of Dylan Thomas, there will be a narrow gauge railway based on Under Milk Wood called “Llareggub”.

Martin Rich will be taking his new minimum gauge layout “Afon Adit” based on a Mid Wales Gold Mine featured recently in a national magazine.

On display will be information about the proposed Welshpool Railway Trail.

“The show, organised by the Newtown Model Railway Society, is now a regular and popular event on the Welshpool calendar and should attract many people from a wide area,” said Mr Rich.

“We have tried to keep the admission price as low as possible. Adults are £3. Accompanied children are free. We feel that this is excellent value for money. There is always a standing invitation for anyone in the local area to exhibit at the show. Details can be obtained at the entrance.”
