Over 100 respond to ‘future of Welshpool’ consultation so far

Over 100 people have responded to a ‘future of Welshpool’ consultation launched by the Town Council, which means that thousands haven’t as the town enters a crucial phase in its history.

With massive decisions needed to be made about where our council tax money needs to be spent in the town, Welshpool Town Council launched a public consultation last month to help shape its Interim Strategic Plan for the period 2025 to 2028.

The Council is asking people to share their views on the range of local services it currently provides, such as the Town Hall, public toilets, recreation areas, events, Meals on Wheels, and more.

Residents are also being asked to consider how these services are funded, whether they offer value for money, and what the Council should prioritise for future investment or improvement.

The consultation is part of the Council’s efforts to plan responsibly and transparently amid rising costs, limited income, and the potential for taking on additional responsibilities from Powys County Council.

The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and is open until August 31. Responses will feed directly into a new Interim Strategic Plan, due to be finalised and adopted at the end of September.

Residents can take part online at www.welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk/consultation

Paper copies of the survey are also available at the Tourist Information Centre.
