A free community well-being event is set to take place in Newtown later this month as part of a county-wide initiative by Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board.
The “Keeping Healthy in Powys” project aims to bring together local organisations and services under one roof, offering residents advice, resources, and connections to help lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
The Newtown event will be held at Hafan Yr Afon on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10am-2pm.
Organisations already signed up include PAVO, Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, Severn Wye Energy, Care & Repair Powys, and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru. Others are expected to join in the coming weeks.
Cllr Richard Church, Cabinet Member for Legal and Regulatory Services, said:
“It’s crucial that we host events such as these, so we can continue to support our communities, provide the correct resources, and help bring people together, allowing residents to see what services are available, that they may not be aware of. These events are free to attend, so why not drop in to your nearest and explore what is available to you?”
The initiative also includes similar events in Machynlleth and Brecon, but organisers say the Newtown session will be particularly important for residents in Montgomeryshire.
The event is free to attend and open to everyone. Organisations interested in taking part can sign up by emailing healthprotection@powys.gov.uk.
