Welshpool Town Council is launching the Welshpool Community Fridge, a new initiative designed to reduce food waste and support the local community.
The Community Fridge will officially launch next Monday at 5pm at Welshpool Town Hall, with access via the rear door opposite Seven Stars Car Park. All residents are invited to attend.
The local authority said that the Community Fridge is open to everyone, providing a shared space where surplus food can be donated and collected freely, helping good food to be enjoyed rather than wasted while supporting people across Welshpool.
The launch event will include free cake and a hot drink, a short introduction to the project, an opportunity to see how the fridge works, and information on how local people can get involved.
Residents interested in supporting the project will be able to sign up to volunteer on the day.
A spokesperson for Welshpool Town Council said: “The Community Fridge is about sustainability and community. It’s a practical way for people to support one another while reducing food waste, and we’re excited to see it launch here in Welshpool.”
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether to learn more, volunteer, donate food in the future, or simply show support for the project.
