Tragic incident on rail track near Trewern

There is tragic news this afternoon after British Transport Police confirmed that one person died this morning on the train tracks near Trewern.

Readers reported a significant emergency response mid-morning and the tragic news was shared by the force.

“Officers were called at around 10.45am today to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Welshpool area,” a spokesperspon said.

“Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

A bus replacement service was operating for a couple of hours following the incident, but Transport for Wales said train services were returning to normal.
