A volunteer support group that has helped numerous Welshpool mothers through the early stages of motherhood is celebrating 20 years next month.
Welshpool Breastfeeding Group provides friendly trained volunteers Peer Support Counsellors through their weekly Friday sessions from 9.30am-12 noon at the town’s Welshpool Integrated Family Centre (SY21 7SX).
But a special event will be held to mark the milestone on August 7, from noon-3pm, when there will be free tea, coffee and cake.
“We have supported and continue to support so many mothers and parents in the start of their breastfeeding journey right through to the end,” a spokesperson told us.
“Mothers come to us because of questions - but also just to socialise and connect with other parents - people don’t need to have feeding issues or require support to come.”
The Group has recently trained three new Breastfeeding Peer Supporters through the ABM (Association of Breastfeeding Mothers) who volunteer weekly.
The organisation is run purely by volunteers and donations fund the refreshments and resources.
“We would love as many people as possible to come and help us celebrate this fantastic group.”
