We’ll be back!

One local football club has decided to sit out the next season, but has vowed to come back in the future.

Newtown-based Maesyrhandir FC has been a popular addition to the Montgomeryshire League over the past few seasons, but has decided to take a breather for the 2020-21 term.

A full statement from the club reads:

“It is with sadness and regret that the committee of Maesyrhandir FC have decided to place the club into hibernation and will not be registering a new team for the 2020/21 season.

“This decision has not been taken lightly and it has been a tough couple of years on the backroom staff in keeping the club going.
“With lack of people with the right credentials applying for the Manager spot and Dafydd Evans stepping down as Chairman, the committee has decided it is not in a position to keep the club operating in the way it has been and will not be submitting a team for this coming season.

“I'd like to thank the players, sponsors and the rest of the committee for their support this season which without them it would have been difficult to see the team through.

“The club has a good basis in which to restart when the time is right and it is only fair on the players who were registered last season that we make this announcement now so they can seek different avenues.

“Good luck everyone for next season, and we will be back, like a phoenix when the time is right.”
