The semi-final spots have been booked for the Welshpool and District Darts League Cup sponsored by Canalside Carpets, writes Steve Lloyd.

The Red Lion Llanfair, Green Dragon A, Grapes A and Horse and Jockey all went through to the last four, with The Westwood hosting The Green Dragon A who rushed into a 5-0 lead, before taking their foot off the pedal and allowing their hosts to win the two doubles. Steve Price, Mitch Butler and Rhys Butler hit maximum 180’s for the Green Dragon A.

The Horse and Jockey went to the Green Dragon C and found themselves 3-2 up after the singles, eventually running out 5-2 winners. A new player making his debut was young Bobby Gough. Despite losing to Leigh Marston, young Bobby performed well. Another one for the future.

The Kings Head found the going tough at an inform Grapes A who won 6-1. Kacey Jones won the only game for the Kings Head, with stalwart Keith Gamble hitting a maximum 180 for the Grapes A.

The Red Lion Llanfair welcomed The Punchbowl and despite Tim Barley taking out 106 and 129 in his match for the visitors, it was the Red Lion that won the match in the first doubles match, eventually ending 4-3.

The Canalside Carpets League Cup semi-finals will be played on February 23, and the draw will take place this week.

The Will Nunn Cup is next week and will consist of: Westwood v Kings Head; Grapes B v The Oak; Castle v Green Dragon B; Punchbowl v Green Dragon C.
